About uFLY
uFLY is a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership led by UDOT that brings together five western states, industry leaders and research institutions to safely accelerate the integration of advanced air mobility technologies into the National Airspace System (NAS). By leveraging the West’s diverse geography—from mountain airports to rural communities and desert environments— the program provides a real-world proving ground to test and evaluate emerging aviation technologies in real-world conditions.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), through the U.S. Department of Transportation, selected UDOT to lead one of eight partnerships nationwide for the Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program, eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), a three-year initiative designed to help safely integrate advanced aircraft into the NAS.
Utah's Role in the eIPP
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), through the U.S. Department of Transportation, selected UDOT to lead one of eight partnerships nationwide through the Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program (eIPP).
The three-year initiative is designed to help safely integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into the National Airspace System while generating insights that can help inform the future of advanced aviation.
As the lead agency, UDOT is coordinating a coalition of partners across Utah, Oklahoma, Oregon, Idaho and Arizona to demonstrate how emerging aviation technologies can be tested, evaluated and responsibly integrated into existing aviation systems.

From Demonstration to Deployment
uFLY provides an opportunity to move AAM technologies from concept to real-world application. Through flight demonstrations, research, testing and collaboration, the program will help identify opportunities and challenges associated with integrating new aircraft and operations into communities and the existing aviation ecosystem.
The testing and lessons learned through uFLY will help shape the future of advanced air mobility in Utah and across the participating states, while providing insights that can inform the safe and responsible integration of next-generation aircraft nationwide.
