Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is an umbrella term for emerging aviation enabled by new propulsion (electric, hybrid, hydrogen, and other fuels) and increased automation (from remote piloting to, over time, higher levels of autonomy). AAM covers a range of aircraft, from small drones to piloted aircraft, and includes transportation and other community-serving applications such as emergency response and professional/industrial uses. AAM typically serves urban, rural, and regional use cases ranging up to 250 miles. As communities around the world adopt AAM, UDOT is considering what this new transportation mode could mean for Utahns across the entire state.
